Our Centre of Excellence

All of our carers are fully trained in house at Care By Us, to a very high standard. This programme commences with their standard induction training, which all applicants must complete and pass before working as carers with care by us. This includes:
  • Catheter care / Continence care / Stoma care
  • Effective communication
  • Emergency Response
  • Equality and Diversity
  • Food Hygiene· Health and Safety
  • Infection Prevention and Control
  • Medication· Moving and Handling
  • Personal Development· Personal Care
  • Person-centred care and support
  • Safeguarding (SOVA) and Duty of Care
  • Mental Capacity Act/Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS)
  • Specialist Dementia· Enablement
Once initially trained, our carers undertake an ongoing training programme that includes:
  • QCF (previously NVQ) Opportunities
  • Refresher Training Courses
  • Food hygiene and control
  • Health and Safety
  • Medication
  • Mental Capacity Act/ DOLS
  • Moving and Handling
  • Safeguarding
  • Working with Children
We also offer, and support our carers through, specialist training courses both internally and externally. These include:
  • Autism
  • Challenging Behaviour
  • Epilepsy Awareness
  • Palliative Care (internal courses – and Distance learning extension courses)
  • Gastrostomy Feeding (specific to the PEG site of individual Service Users and arranged with District Nurses, Nutricia Nurses and Abbots Nurses)
  • Senior Carer Training
  • Working With Children
  • Diabetes Awareness
  • Stroke Awareness
  • MAPA Training (Management of Actual and Potential Aggression)
